Bespoke panels to reduce railway noise

To reduce railway noise generated by the contact of train wheels and the track, engineers have deemed
that a porous absorber placed between the tracks provides higher performance than lining the
walls of a tunnel. In developing this product the challenge was to find a long lasting, non combustible material with enough durability to withstand high impact from track workers, cleanability, and high sound absorption. The only product which answers all these requirements is Quietstone.

Sound Absorption iconSound Absorption

Sound absorption or noise deadening, is one of the key properties of Quietstone. The structure of the material is designed to take in and absorb the sound energy. This unwanted sound is then lost or transmitted away thus ‘deadening’ the noise.

Sound Insulation iconSound Insulation

We offer expertise and a range of products for sound insulation. Whether your requirement is for an indoor or outdoor noise barrier we have a range of products suitable for any sound insulation project. We supply barrier sheets for partition walls, ceiling systems and lining material for marine engine rooms.

Applications

  • Railways
  • Through rail tunnels
  • Across rail bridges
  • Where rails are near residential areas

Installation

The panels are specially designed to require minimum installation. They are simply laid between the tracks with a small amount of cementitious adhesive. The weight of the tile alone stops it from being pulled up by the pressure changes generated by the trains and the adhesive stops them from moving laterally.
